Jill says:

“I bought Spirit in Dec 1998, he had been backed at 3, ridden for 6 weeks (not by me) and then turned away. I bought an FnE Trekker in 1999 when Spirit was 4. We did pleasure rides that year, then in 2000, his novice year, I bought a 2nd hand (but nearly new) FnE Endurance Standard as the longer flaps were more comfortable for me.

He has had the same saddle since then, and has not been ridden in anything else (occasionally in another one to try, but never in a competitive ride, or even a long training ride). Spirit’s been ridden in the FnE for 7 years, he has no ‘dip’ behind the shoulders and a good strong back.

The saddle has always been adjusted at least yearly to accommodate his growth and muscle development but with this type of saddle that is not a problem. Otherwise it may well have been necessary to buy at least 3 different saddles during his early years as he changed shape. FnE have upgraded the saddle over the years with newer features as the panel designs have changed.

We have occasionally had a few white hairs growing (usually on changing coat), and once one particularly white patch appeared but FnE have always responded immediately, adjusted the saddle, and the white marks have disappeared. During this amazing 2006 season we have used the new FnE AirFlow numnah with great success – especially at the very hot Summer Solstice in Cirencester Park where he won the 160km National Championships in temperatures well into the 30s. We didn’t change the numnah at all – just soaked it at every opportunity”
