Greystone Taurus (Flint) was turning 3 years old in 2000 and coming up to the time to back him. It was time to buy a saddle for him, so we decided on a Free’n’Easy Saddle, with the idea that it could be adjusted as he developed through the years.

The saddle that we chose has been his one and only saddle for the last 6 years. We decided on a General Purpose style Free’n’Easy so that it could be used for more than one discipline just in case we every decided to take up Show Jumping, Cross Country or even Dressage!

Greystone Taurus started his first pleasure rides at 5 yrs and progressed over the years from Novice to an Advanced Endurance Horse. At the age of 8 years he attempted his first Endurance Race Ride, at the age of 9 years old (this year 2006) both Greystone Taurus and Brian had their most successful season. Wining 3 Endurance Race Rides and completing a variety of Graded rides on all type of terrain to earn them a couple of first places in the National Endurance Awards Trophies for 2006.

Not only do Brian and Flint compete at Endurance. During the Winter months and occasionally during summer they compete in Dressage. Brian has qualified him in Prelim championships and competed at Affiliated Dressage, attaining good percentages of around 65% - 70% and usually placed in the top 3. This winter their new adventure is Show Jumping and both horse and saddle are busy learning the techniques.

Greystone Taurus’ back is checked every 3 months by a physiotherapist and the saddle is also checked every 3 months both usually have a glowing report. This saddle has been travelled far and wide over England and put to a variety of jobs, rained on, sloshed down, baked in the sun. been in the sea!! It has never complained or let us down, it has just been a solid support to our horse, If they gave an award to a good and loyal saddle Greystone Taurus’s saddle would take first prize.
