Fitting FnE Saddles
Fitting a FnE saddle is not that difficult. There are only three processes to carry out:
- Using the two front adjustment screws on both sides fit the panels to the horse's withers. Aim to have the panels set parallel to the horse's wither when positioned 1" (2.5cm) over the back edge of the shoulder blade.
- Set the seat and stirrup bar to balance the rider. To raise the cantle lengthen the two rear screws, to raise the pomell lengthen all 4 front screw equally (this keeps the wither angle adjustment). Note: one full turn can have large effect on rider balance.
- If necessary modify (1) & (2) to create a small space at the saddle's centre between tree and panel. This allows the horse to round its back as the muscle tone increases as he moves from standing to walk then to trot then to canter.
As the adjustments can also handle asymmetrical horses and riders there are of course endless opportunities to fine tune the FnE saddle to the horse and and rider, or to accommodate changes through a competitive season or whenever it seems necessary.
