Back in the saddle, thanks to FnE Saddles!
In 2005 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, I kept on riding my Dales mare Rose, but by late 2007 it was apparent that I had become weaker in my right side and as a result Rose was also becoming equally unbalanced and unhappy about being ridden. Faced with the prospect of giving up riding I started looking into fully adjustable saddles. A good friend and long time customer of FnE suggested I contact Les Spark.
Early in 2008 Rose was fitted with an Endurance Special FnE saddle, fully adjusted for both mine and Rose’s lopsidedness. I won’t say it made an immediate difference, as I took a fair few falls as we both adjusted to the new saddle, but within a couple of months Rose had lost her lopsidedness. The engineer in Les then decided that a further modification would be extremely helpful and a block was fitted to the lower part of the flap on the right hand-side of the saddle to give me more support. Thanks to this I have been able to hack on my own, mount (from a low block) unassisted, open gates and best of all CANTER! All without losing my balance.
Rose and I have been doing a few endurance rides with Sport Endurance, mainly as they do a short format (15mile) competitive class and so far we have come second twice and won one!
In 2009 Rose and I hope to do more and longer competitive rides, my health permitting. So many thanks to Les Spark and the engineering ingenuity of his FnE saddles.
